Enrollment in specific music courses is required for access to the practice rooms. Music majors and minors should all have access, as well as any students enrolled in private lessons for non-majors. Normally, being enrolled in an ensemble also grants you access. In Fall 2020, access for ensemble memebers was removed due to coronavirus. We had to convert several practice rooms to online lesson rooms, and the remaining rooms were available less often, due to air clearing requirements.

However, beginning in Spring 2021, we will be provisionally granting access to non-majors in ensembles who request access. This access may have additional limits imposed, or it may be revoked, depending on how this affects practice room availability. Currently there have not been too many of these requests, so I'm optimistic it will work out.

There are 2 components to practice room access. Online access to this reservation system is handled by the webmaster, Daryl Nagode. Once you have been added to the online system, you will be notified via email and you will be able to make reservations immediately.

Swipe card access to the RPAC practice wing is handled by Gayle Reynolds. Gayle submits student information to SoonerCard, who manages the swipe locks. Requests typically take 1-3 days.

Because there are 2 different systems involved, it's possible you will have access to make reservations before your OU ID will work on the key card locks at the end of the hall.

To request access, send one email addressed to both Daryl Nagode (somweb@ou.edu) and Gayle Reynolds (tgreynolds@ou.edu). In your email, submit your first and last name, OU ID #, and the course or ensemble that you are enrolled in which grants you access.

Some faculty have coordinated their lesson schedules with School of Music staff to establish on-campus online lesson rooms for some or all of their students. If you have questions about lesson rooms, contact the webmaster Daryl Nagode at somweb@ou.edu.
